April 2024 Message

I write this article having just come from a Maundy Thursday service at Coventry Cathedral. It was quite incredible to be in the presence of lots of people from all over Coventry and Warwickshire. Recognising I was part of a wider community. That thread of community is woven not by solitary hands but by the collective efforts of individuals bound together by shared values, experiences, and aspirations.

At its core, community is more than just a gathering of people; it is a sanctuary of belonging, a haven where hearts unite and souls find refuge.

Jesus lived in community, brought his disciples into an even closer community as they travelled together. He then sent those disciples out to share community with the world. The overarching principle that he taught was to love God with all our being, and to love our neighbour as much as we love ourselves. That’s how community is built and strengthened.

In closing, let us celebrate the beauty of community—the tapestry of connections that enrich our lives and illuminate our shared journey. May we continue to cherish, nurture, and cultivate the bonds that unite us, for in doing so, we not only honour the legacy of those who came before us but also pave the way for a brighter, more compassionate future for generations to come.
