A New Bell for St. Michael’s Church, New Arley – 2004

In 2004 the calling bell at St. Michael’s was stolen.
A local builder, Pete Bates, was determined to replace it. The money needed was raised and the process to replace the bell commenced.
Pete replaced the bell mounting, damaged by the vandals whilst removing the old bell. He then arranged to have the new bell cast by the John Taylor Bell Founders, of Loughborough, Leicestershire. It was also arranged for members of the St. Michael’s congregation to take a trip to Loughborough to see the bell being cast.
Pete and his team raise the new bell into its place, above the main entrance of St. Michael’s Church.
